Known as much for his humorous trials as for his social novels, Charles Dickens is considered one of the most influential novelists of all time, as well as one of the most popular. Charles was the second of eight children. He was born in the suburbs of Portsmouth on 7 February 1812 to Elizabeth Barrow and John Dickens, parents of humble origins. This stroll through Higham’s small and cosy streets is dedicated to Charles’ life and memory.
