In this marvellous castle, one can still bond with the past. This itinerary aims to unveil the dark rumours that hover around its ‘master’: Ugolino Della Gherardesca. According to Dante’s Divine Comedy, Ugolino was guilty of cannibalism. We climb to the top of the fortress among remains and ruins to discover this past.
Last but not least, this itinerary covers sections of unpaved paths/trails, even uphill, so comfortable clothes, hiking shoes and enough water and food are recommended (don’t forget sunscreen for the summer months!).
